Job Title: Family Services Specialist II

Hiring Range: $60,174 to $70,710

Full Time or Part Time: Full Time

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of social work principles and practices. As a Family Services Specialist II, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized service plans for clients in need of assistance with employment services, child care, and adult/adult protective services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret laws, policies, and regulations related to human services program areas.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and administer specific programs as assigned.
  • Coordinate services within specific areas of responsibility.
  • Interview and assess client needs and other relevant factors.
  • Presents cases to determine appropriate services and writes/implements service plans.
  • Provides case management services to monitor compliance.
  • Manages program waiting lists.
  • Tracks expenditures, prepares/submits budget estimates, and ensures payment for services.
  • Completes necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates with other agencies and participates in multi-disciplinary and interagency teams providing services to customers.
  • Conducts overall monitoring of programs in specific areas of responsibility.
  • Serves as a resource to clients and the community in area of expertise.
  • Provides after-hours on-call coverage and responds to emergencies in child/adult protective services and/or foster care.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area.
  • Experience in public social work, working with adults and families, and demonstrated ability to develop and implement service plans.
  • Experience working with community professionals, such as physicians, mental health professionals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home health care agencies to assist adults and families in resolving problems and making referrals for services.
  • Proficiency with personal computer and associated software to include Microsoft Word.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Adult Services/Adult Protective Services conducting investigations of abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation. Completion of required state of Virginia mandates adult services/adult protective services training. Possession of BSW or MSW degree. Experience utilizing at least two of the following programs: ASAPS/PeerPlace/EPAS/SPIDeR.

Special Requirements:

Applicants will be subject to a Criminal History Background search, Central Registry search, DMV/driving record check, and pre-employment drug/alcohol screen. The investigation may include fingerprint checks, employment verification/references & credit checks (relevant to employment), and other checks requested by the hiring authority. All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory results of the required checks and screenings. Employee must be willing to work in the community emergency shelter in the event of a natural disaster or emergency. Employee must be willing to provide after-hours on-call services for CPS, APS, and FC.
