Job Title: Commercial General Manager

The Challenge:

As the Commercial General Manager, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth, nurturing a high-performing team, and overseeing the profit and loss (P&L) for all depot operations. You will manage a feeder yard near the depot, ensuring health and safety, site overheads, and operational efficiency. Collaboration across all departments is key to success in this role, and your leadership will guide the team while maintaining high-performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute strategic plans to drive growth and achieve financial targets.
  2. Be accountable for the depot's P&L.
  3. Champion health and safety, promoting a healthy workplace and colleague well-being.
  4. Act as a brand ambassador, enhancing the used vehicle brand in the retail environment.
  5. Work towards achieving the goal of selling 80% of used vehicles through the retail channel.
  6. Ensure the workshop is efficiently utilized.
  7. Identify end-of-life vehicles from the existing fleet for defleeting and sale.
  8. Manage budget and used vehicle sales targets.
  9. Report to the Board on financial performance, operational efficiency, and growth progress.

To Succeed, You Will Need:

  1. A proven track record in managing a depot with a focus on site maintenance and health and safety.
  2. Commercial awareness and strong business judgment.
  3. Negotiation and influencing skills to maximize value and manage internal stakeholders effectively.
  4. Strong knowledge of the commercial vehicle (HGV) industry.
  5. Creative thinking abilities to identify multiple options for success.
  6. Effective management skills to provide feedback on industry trends and challenges.
  7. An outcome-focused mindset, delivering the annual budget in line with key objectives.
  8. Understanding of residual values in commercial assets.
  9. Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop a relatively young team.
  10. Experience in managing complex operations with quick turnaround times.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Transport Management CPC qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
  2. Previous experience in a similar role.

This is a full-time role with hours from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break.
