Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technical Supervisor to join our Faculty of Engineering, Computing & the Environment (ECE) at Kingston University.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the management of technical laboratories (Civil & Construction, Engineering, Aerospace) across multiple campuses. This includes the organization, coordination, and supervision of a dedicated team of technicians, ensuring smooth operational workflows.

You will offer engineering and technical support for various workshops, engaging in hands-on activities that facilitate teaching, projects, research, and commercial initiatives. Your role will involve collaboration with colleagues, contributing to the planning, resource allocation, capital programs, risk assessment, quality control, and promotion of ECE activities, which encompasses procurement and order management.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience as a Technical Lab Manager, complemented by strong IT and organizational skills. You should be a proactive and enthusiastic team player, dedicated to the daily operations and upkeep of the faculty's laboratories. Your contribution will enhance the educational experience of students by providing expert guidance on resource utilization and fostering a comprehensive understanding of laboratory protocols and health & safety considerations.

Additionally, you will be adept at engaging with external organizations and suppliers, showcasing excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, alongside robust organizational and analytical capabilities.

A relevant qualification such as a Degree, HNC, or an equivalent/higher professional certification in Aeronautical, Construction, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is essential. Proven experience in managing a team of engineering technicians is also required, along with a solid foundation of technical and managerial expertise.
