About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Coder Trainee to join our team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. As a Clinical Coder Trainee, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Trust in providing accurate and reliable clinically coded data for all inpatient and outpatient activity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Extract relevant information from case notes and source documents to enable coding of clinical activity.
  • Critically analyze data from all available sources relevant to the episode of care and investigate and interpret the information to determine the appropriate coding translation.
  • Apply national and international rules and conventions to agreed standards to ensure accurate coding.
Requirements
  • Education to A level standard or equivalent relevant passes.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Experience of working in a hospital and/or office environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • NHS experience.
  • Experience in hospital PAS system.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Previous clinical coding experience.
