About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Recovery Practitioner at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our perioperative care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective transfer of patients through the intraoperative phase of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a high standard of care for level 1 and level 2 postoperative patients and facilitate safe transfer to critical care units or other areas.
  • Work collaboratively with medical staff and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure patient safety and treatment are carried out in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of people, both verbally and in writing, and utilize IT systems to support patient care.
  • Work independently, using your own initiative and prioritizing workload in challenging situations.
  • Contribute to the education and development of junior staff, and engage with link roles within the unit.
Person Specification
  • Registered nurse or ODP on the relevant part of the register.
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant resus qualification, such as Immediate Life Support.
  • Specialist theatre work-based learning course or mentorship course, post-qualification.
