Job Title: ODP/Recovery Practitioner

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an ODP/Recovery Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a high standard of care for level 1 and level 2 postoperative patients, with safe transfer to critical care units or other areas.
  • Work collaboratively with medical staff and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure patient safety and treatment are carried out in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of people, both verbally and in writing, using full IT systems.
  • Work unsupervised, using own initiative and prioritizing workload in challenging situations.
  • Maintain accurate records of observations, treatment, and patient care.
  • Contribute to the Education team, supporting junior staff and engaging with link roles in the unit.
Person Specification:
  • Registered nurse or ODP on the relevant part of the register.
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant resus qualification, such as Immediate Life Support.
  • Specialist theatre work-based learning course or mentorship course, post-qualification.
