Role Responsibilities

As an Administrative Support Apprentice, you will be integral in facilitating the operations across various directorate groups within the CMA. This position includes the Microsoft Data Essentials Level 3 apprenticeship.

Available Areas of Focus:

Consumer Protection Division investigates potential violations of consumer protection regulations, ensuring compliance and securing consumer restitution from businesses that fail to adhere to the law. This is a pivotal time to join this division as the CMA is set to gain enhanced consumer enforcement capabilities under new legislation. Apprentices in this division will assist in case management, evidence gathering, and preliminary analysis to identify potential legal infringements.

Mergers Division evaluates various transactions, including mergers, that may impact competition within the UK. The aim is to maintain adequate competition in relevant markets for the benefit of UK consumers. Apprentices will support case teams from the beginning and participate in extensive training to prepare for involvement in complex and significant cases.

Advocacy, Public Policy, and International (APPI) Team provides strategic advice to the government on policy and regulation, manages stakeholder engagement across the UK, and oversees international relations. Apprentices will assist in various administrative tasks, including organizing meetings, maintaining stakeholder databases, and supporting team management activities.

Apprenticeship Details

As part of this role, you will undertake the Microsoft Data Essentials Level 3 apprenticeship, which typically spans 15 months on a part-time basis. Apprentices will engage in flexible training activities designed to develop essential skills in data management and analysis.

Core Requirements

To qualify for the apprenticeship, candidates must:

  • Have resided in the UK or EU for three years prior to the start date.
  • Confirm that this apprenticeship provides substantial new skills and knowledge.
  • Not hold an equivalent or higher qualification in a digital or data-related field.
  • Not possess a qualification higher than a Bachelor's Degree in any subject.
  • Not be currently enrolled in another apprenticeship.

  • Strong organizational and administrative capabilities, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
