Head of Projects and Facilities Operations

The Royal College of Music is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our Estates and Facilities team as Head of Projects and Facilities Operations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development, implementation, and management of the College's Estates and Facilities functions, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all aspects of the College's Buildings operations, including the Prince Consort Road Campus and RCM Jay Mews, in collaboration with the Estates Management team.
- Oversee the procurement, delivery, mobilisation, and operational readiness of all new building projects and facilities operations.
- Take a leading role in continuously improving Building Operations to enhance the user experience, in collaboration with other estates management colleagues.
- Identify improvements in service delivery, enhancements to customer experience, and continuous improvement of Facilities Operations.
- Deputise for the Director of Estates at senior meetings and present reports and presentations.
- Liaise with the Metropolitan Police on security provision for daily operations and VIP events.
- Lead a busy, hardworking team who provide on-site duty management, 7 days a week.
- Take responsibility for key, strategic decisions and, where necessary, take emergency action.
- Problem-solve and streamline operational activity, working with fellow heads of departments.
- Extensive experience in project management, including successful delivery of construction projects.
- Clear knowledge and proven background in facilities management, ideally in an HEI environment.
- Ability to deputise for the Director of Estates at senior meetings and present reports and presentations.
- Background in visitor engagement, providing customer service such as box office, front of house services.
- Experience in security provision for daily operations and VIP events, including liaison with the Metropolitan Police.
- A positive and proactive attitude, and quick to respond to requests, including from Senior Management.
- The ability to lead a busy, hardworking team who provide on-site duty management, 7 days a week.
- The ability to take responsibility for key, strategic decisions and, where necessary, take emergency action.
- The confidence to problem-solve and streamline operational activity, working with fellow heads of departments.
