Senior Commercial and Contract Negotiator

Job Summary:
The Senior Commercial and Contract Specialist plays a pivotal role in providing strategic financial advice and in-depth commercial and contract analysis to assigned business unit client groups. As a senior leader in the Commercial segment, you will be required to build capability and drive a high-performance culture within your function that effectively contributes to achieving strategic and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide detailed commercial analysis and contract advice as part of the bid management and customer renewal process.
- Leverage your strong commercial acumen to analyze customer deals and take lead on shaping commercial terms to achieve profitable outcomes for Telstra International.
- Review and counsel sales teams on key customer agreements to ensure Telstra International's interests are protected.
- Draft, collate, brief, review, and obtain approvals for commercial and contract negotiations, and contract variations to Telstra's standard agreements and bespoke customer contracts.
- Analyze complex commercial related contract positions that deviate from company's standard position and/or terms and agreements, and balance risk tolerance of such positions while driving profitable growth.
- Act as trusted advisor in handling contract and commercial queries, facilitate the resolution of issues by applying professional judgment, concepts, procedures, and effective engagement of the appropriate stakeholders.
- Contract Management of strategic accounts, including:
- Maximising contract value, minimising margin leakage & scope creep and identifying opportunities to cross/up sell services.
- Managing contract risk, including advising on risk mitigation strategies and consequences of failure to comply with commitments during the contract lifecycle.
- Provide advice, counsel and recommendations on commercial and contractual matters, and contract interpretation.
- Build strong and effective relationships with internal operational stakeholders (including Sales, Legal, Project Delivery, Service Management, Business Operations and Pricing) to support the management of contract deliverables, risks, and obligations.
- Recommend and support initiatives to implement best practices in commercial & contract management and drive standardisation across regions.
