Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering Education

Position Overview
We are seeking applications for a Senior Lecturer (Teaching) role aimed at enhancing the educational offerings within our Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate degree programs. The responsibilities encompass various facets of course delivery and organization within the department's biomedical engineering curriculum, including classroom instruction, laboratory facilitation, practical work supervision, course planning, tutoring, and assessment.
You will collaborate closely with faculty members in the Department and with designated postgraduate teaching assistants (PGTAs). Additionally, you will play a vital role in the development, planning, and execution of a high-quality curriculum while assisting in the creation of educational materials, preparing course outlines, and maintaining records to track student progress, performance, and attendance.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) discipline.
Experience in teaching methodologies such as problem-based learning and laboratory-based instruction is essential, along with a background in teaching undergraduate and/or Master's level students.
Applicants should demonstrate basic to intermediate knowledge and practical experience in at least two of the following areas:
- CAD design & Finite element analysis;
- Mechanical testing of materials;
- Analogue and digital electronics;
- Application of Mathematics in biomedical engineering.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required, along with the ability to evaluate existing processes for efficiency improvements. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, along with meticulous attention to detail, are crucial. The role will involve coordinating and delivering a new module titled 'Foundations in Biomedical Engineering', which focuses on teaching essential skills for the field. You will also contribute to broader undergraduate teaching and assessment, particularly in laboratory practicals and intensive group projects. Supervision of student projects and serving as a personal tutor for a group of undergraduates will also be part of your responsibilities.
