Assistant Project Manager - Highways Sector

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Project Manager to join Marlborough Highways, a dynamic civil engineering company with over 30 years of experience. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating teams across our North London contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Safe Site Operations: Monitor the implementation of safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Prepare and Implement Risk Assessments: Develop and review risk assessments and method statements to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Coordinate Communication: Facilitate effective communication between management and supervision to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage Site Plant and Costs: Optimize site plant details and manage costs to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Report and Manage Vehicle Defects: Identify and report vehicle defects, and manage the repair process to minimize downtime.
  • Build Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, clients, and colleagues to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Oversee Site Inductions and Inspections: Conduct site inductions and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Issue Works Orders and Instructions: Prepare and issue works orders and instructions to ensure timely project completion.
  • Program and Resource Works: Plan and resource works for contracts to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Identify Contract Variations: Identify potential contract variations and manage the change process to ensure minimal disruption to projects.
  • Organize Toolbox Talks: Plan and deliver toolbox talks to ensure personnel are aware of company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor Work Standards and Material Procurement: Monitor work standards and material procurement to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee Measurement Information: Collect and review measurement information for valuations to ensure accurate project costing.
  • Ensure Commercial Viability: Ensure operations are commercially viable and align with company goals and objectives.
  • Manage Timesheets and Costings: Manage timesheets and costings to ensure accurate project costing and billing.
Skill Requirements:

Previous experience in the Highways sector is essential, along with experience in an Assistant Project Manager or Supervisor role. Strong communication and organizational skills are also required to ensure successful project outcomes.
