Our mission centers on empowering individuals through person-centered support, equipping them with the essential life skills necessary for successful independent living.

Your Role as a Support Worker

As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in guiding and assisting clients towards greater self-sufficiency. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Providing encouragement and assistance to clients in attending appointments.
  • Facilitating their engagement in personal growth initiatives such as education, training, employment opportunities, or volunteer work.
  • Guiding them in developing practical life skills, including budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, health maintenance, and hygiene practices.
  • Collaborating with external partners (such as educational institutions) to maximize available resources and support clients' resettlement into the community.
  • Empowering clients to achieve their desired outcomes for independent living, including participation in practical tasks within the housing environment, such as basic maintenance or room decoration.
  • Encouraging client involvement in maintaining a positive and harmonious hostel environment.
  • Contributing to a welcoming, safe, and secure environment by identifying and mitigating potential risks for both residents and the organization's property.
  • Maintaining accurate client records using established systems.
  • Adhering to health and safety regulations and all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participating in supervision, performance reviews, training sessions, and meetings as directed.
  • Performing any other reasonable tasks assigned by a member of the staff team.
Qualifications and Attributes

While prior experience in this field is not mandatory, a genuine passion for working with individuals experiencing homelessness is essential. Your values should align with ours, demonstrating a commitment to helping others and finding fulfillment in making a tangible difference.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in using computers and keyboarding.
  • A polite and assertive demeanor with the ability to self-motivate.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for working in a client-focused role.
  • Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
  • A sincere interest and concern for homelessness and related issues.
  • Familiarity with voluntary and statutory agencies.
