About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) to join our Public and Private Law division. This role is crucial in ensuring that children and young people's voices are heard during family court proceedings.

Our team operates across several local authority areas, divided into three specialized units:

  • Unit 1: Southend/Thurrock
  • Unit 2: South Chelmsford, Basildon, Grays, Harlow, and Epping
  • Unit 3: North Essex (Clacton, Colchester, North Chelmsford, Braintree, Harwich)

While you will primarily work with families in designated areas, flexibility in travel may be required based on case demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in a collaborative office setting, with the flexibility to work remotely. Your location relative to the office is not a critical factor.

Role Responsibilities

As a Family Court Adviser, you will engage in cases where families need assistance in determining the best arrangements for their children or where local authorities have raised significant concerns. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting direct interactions with children to understand their perspectives.
  • Representing children's views in court through detailed reports.
  • Advocating for outcomes that prioritize the best interests of the children involved.

Candidate Profile

This role is fulfilling yet challenging, requiring a registered social worker with a minimum of three years of experience working with children and families. Ideal candidates will be organized, resilient, and capable of working autonomously.
