Position: Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) - Public and Private Law

Salary Range: £41,550 - £46,332

Location: Chelmsford (covering Essex, Southend, and Thurrock)

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) to join our Public and Private Law division. This role involves working within the Essex region, including areas such as Southend and Thurrock.

Our team operates across various geographical divisions:

  • Team 1: Southend/Thurrock
  • Team 2: South Chelmsford, Basildon, Grays, Harlow, and Epping
  • Team 3: North Essex (Clacton, Colchester, North Chelmsford, Braintree, Harwich)

While your primary responsibilities will involve families within these specific areas, flexibility to travel across the county may be required based on demand.

Role Responsibilities

As a Family Court Adviser, you will engage in a variety of cases where families need assistance in establishing the best arrangements for the welfare of their children, or where local authorities have significant concerns that necessitate our involvement. Your role will include:

  • Conducting direct interactions with children to understand their perspectives and wishes.
  • Representing children's interests in court through detailed reports and testimony.
  • Advocating for arrangements that prioritize the wellbeing of children.

Candidate Profile

This position is rewarding and impactful, but it requires a specific skill set. Candidates must be registered social workers with Social Work England, possessing a minimum of three years of experience working with children and families. The ideal candidate will be organized, resilient, and capable of working autonomously.
