The Chief Governance Officer will offer strategic leadership across all facets of Corporate Governance.


As the primary advisor to the Board and Executive Directors, you will collaborate closely with senior leaders to enhance governance practices.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Establishing and upholding the highest standards of corporate governance while managing relationships between the Board and key stakeholders.
  • Advising the Chair and Chief Executive on system-wide governance initiatives, ensuring robust governance arrangements are in place and continuously improved.
  • Contributing to the development of strategies and policies in support of the Chief Strategy Officer.
  • Leading governance efforts within the South London Partnership, ensuring clarity in processes and adherence to procedures.

In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined for this role, other key duties include:

  • Keeping the Board and stakeholders informed of any new policy, legislative, regulatory, and governance developments that may impact the Trust.
  • Providing confidential counsel to the Chief Executive, Chair, and Board members on all aspects of Board business.
  • Guiding the Board in the effective conduct of its responsibilities, offering an independent perspective when necessary.
  • Overseeing the Trust's corporate governance framework to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring that the Trust's corporate affairs are conducted with the highest standards of integrity.
  • Providing expert advice on governance matters to ensure adherence to all relevant frameworks.
  • Leading the design and implementation of the Board Assurance Framework, ensuring it is regularly reviewed for effectiveness.
  • Facilitating the appointment of key governance roles in accordance with best practices.
  • Ensuring that the Board receives comprehensive support and advice to operate efficiently and effectively.
