Role Summary

As a Lead Radio Journalist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the news output for our key programmes. Your expertise will be essential in orchestrating live broadcasts, ensuring that all editorial, legal, and creative aspects are meticulously handled. Your leadership will be vital in maximizing the potential of our team, which includes journalists, presenters, and technical staff, to enhance audience engagement and amplify the impact of our journalism.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

You will be tasked with: Strategizing and executing the content for major radio programmes, including weekend shifts Managing live broadcasts, which may require early starts and late finishes Supervising the journalistic team Navigating editorial and legal challenges, resolving issues autonomously Potentially overseeing a small team of staff

Required Skills and Experience

To excel in this position, you should possess: Extensive experience in journalism or live radio production Proven ability to lead small teams effectively, inspiring colleagues including senior presenters and correspondents Strong grasp of BBC editorial standards and media legislation A proactive approach to building relationships with contributors and colleagues across the organization In-depth knowledge of Wales, its culture, and political landscape
