Multimedia Journalist

Job Overview

The BBC is seeking a skilled and versatile journalist to join its multimedia Newsdesk team in the Cardiff Newsroom. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for writing and reading radio bulletins, as well as contributing to digital stories and newsgathering efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and read radio bulletins that adhere to the BBC's editorial guidelines and values, targeting a Welsh audience while covering major UK and international stories.
• Make sound editorial decisions in a fast-paced environment, sourcing and cutting relevant audio quickly and accurately.
• Contribute content ideas across the BBC's services, identifying what makes a good news story and contributing to a creative team environment.
• Have experience of live broadcasting and be clear and confident in your delivery.

Requirements

• Excellent editorial judgement and the ability to take decisions quickly and competently.
• Comfortable with live broadcasting and able to use a range of technology to gather material for broadcast.
• Good knowledge of what issues are important in Wales, as well as an understanding of Wales' geography and politics.
• Adaptable and flexible, with an understanding of multi-platform working, particularly digital requirements.
• Exhibit the BBC's Values and Behaviours and actively support the strategy of Value for All.
