New Directions Holding is seeking a dedicated support assistant to work in a specialized educational environment. This position involves assisting children facing challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health. The successful candidate will be expected to provide consistent support and encouragement to help students thrive in their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Establish strong relationships with both students and staff.
- Provide encouragement and support to students.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards education and child development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
While the primary focus is on educational support, the role also requires mentoring, motivating, and advising students, as well as offering some counseling to promote their overall well-being. This approach enables students to achieve more in their education and work towards greater independence.
Applicants should be prepared to implement de-escalation and calming techniques, while maintaining an empathetic approach to understanding the behaviors stemming from various challenges. Candidates with backgrounds in care, sports, psychology, criminology, sociology, and youth work are particularly encouraged to apply.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with children or adults with additional needs.
- Possession of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Able to support children of varying abilities.
- Exhibit a positive and ambitious attitude towards learning.
