About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Manager to lead the development of commercial relationships with suitable flexible assets for our Ecotricity Smart Grid (ESG) offering.

The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the client base of Ecolibrium, our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) platform, and will work closely with the VPP Growth Officer and Technical Integration Officer to achieve this goal.

The Commercial team is responsible for liaising with the Grid and other flexibility service buyers to ensure platform assets are registered for such services. The Commercial Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end onboarding of customers and account management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and contract new assets for the VPP.
  • Research and assess the viability of emerging flexible technologies of interest to the VPP, including commercial modeling.
  • Determine the value of the AMVLP process and complete or close accordingly.
  • Oversee account management and ensure seamless integration and onboarding of assets.
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders from the planning, construction, and operations teams.
  • Manage relationships and communications with key external technical stakeholders, including National Grid ESO, DNOs, and Elexon.
  • Ensure all necessary qualification work is complete for qualification for ancillary services.
  • Assess new Grid services and ensure asset development is aligned with AS needs.
  • Assist the General Manager in following policy and regulatory developments that impact upon aggregation proposition.
  • Responsible for marketing Ecolibrium and overseeing content on the ESG website/portal.
Requirements
  • Detailed technical understanding of renewable technologies, particularly energy storage.
  • Good process skills and excellent analytical ability.
  • Good commercial acumen and the ability to draft contracts to support commercial arrangements.
  • Strong report writing ability and excellent MS Excel skills.
  • A proactive 'can-do' attitude and ability to think 'out of the box' to get a deal done.
  • Good communication abilities and understanding of the UK energy regulatory framework.
