Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Smart Grid Integration Specialist to join our team at Ecotricity. As a key member of our Smart Grids team, you will be responsible for leading the technical integration of flexible assets into our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the integration of suitable flexible assets into the Ecotricity Smart Grid VPP platform.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to specify, instruct, and organize work carried out by contractors and clients.
- Liaise with National Grid ESO and other flexibility service buyers to ensure platform assets are capable of delivering ancillary services.
- Assess the interface requirements of new Grid services and advise on methods of control and monitoring to deliver the services.
- Develop and maintain accurate asset state data and records of asset details.
- Contribute to strategy development for the Smart Grids team.
- Attend relevant internal and external meetings to provide technical input.
- Research and assess the viability of emerging flexible technologies and potential new services from National Grid and Distribution Network Operators.
Requirements
- Technical understanding of renewable technologies, particularly energy storage.
- Ability to read and understand site Single Line Diagrams.
- Understanding of IT communication methods, such as MODBUS or MQTT.
- Understanding of power system terminology, including reactive power and frequency.
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
- Good communication and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Visio.
