Role Overview: The Patient Appointment Coordinator is essential in managing patient communications regarding the rescheduling, cancellation, or modification of appointments, ensuring that timelines are adhered to for meeting RTT targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact patients to discuss appointment changes while negotiating suitable times to meet departmental targets.
  • Ensure that patients under the two-week rule who have their appointments cancelled or do not attend are promptly offered new dates within the required timeframes to prevent any breaches.
  • Utilize effective telephone communication skills while adhering to national booking objectives and departmental protocols.
  • Handle inquiries from patients, their families, wards, general practitioners, and external healthcare providers through various communication channels.
  • Manage outpatient correspondence, including mail and emails, while accurately recording all referrals in the Patient Administration System to maintain data integrity.
  • Address telephone, written, and electronic inquiries from both internal and external clinical offices or healthcare providers as necessary.
