Position Overview

The role involves delivering a proficient and effective switchboard service for patients, staff, and visitors.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Day Operator to engage in a flexible schedule of 37.5 hours per week, covering various shifts throughout the week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all incoming and outgoing calls to the organization in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner, directing them to the appropriate department.
  • Conduct regular emergency drills as required (e.g., cardiac arrest, fire) and document all outcomes, following up on any non-responses to identify causes.
  • Oversee alarm systems and adhere to protocols in case of activation, including Fire, Blood Bank, Medical Gases, and Mortuary, ensuring all faults are recorded and reported correctly.
  • Perform initial checks on all equipment failures such as bleeps, pagers, mobiles, and switchboard consoles, and notify the relevant engineers.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to internal bleep/system failures and major incidents, ensuring communication with the relevant departments and site managers as per established procedures.
  • Handle emergency testing requests from the London Ambulance Service regularly.
  • Update the Switchboard On-Call Rota with any changes to on-call schedules as informed.
  • Assist with any additional tasks as required by the department, within reasonable management requests and aligned with job expectations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE Level (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with ECDL.
