Position Overview
Please note, this role is based out of our Holborn Store Support Centre & Home. Colleagues in the team go into the office 1-2 days per week on average.

The Commercial Finance Team is pivotal in both shaping and executing the strategy at Sainsbury's. In a dynamic industry that is constantly evolving, Finance plays a vital role in challenging existing processes and driving transformation. Our primary focus is on maximizing sales, profit, return on investment, and cash flow alongside our non-financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and insights across various aspects of Food Commercial financial performance, including ownership of our periodic insights pack.
  • Manage all Food P&L systemic reporting, ensuring reconciliation between Onestream and SIMBA for accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial Finance stakeholders, driving the best financial outcomes for Sainsbury's by understanding commercial performance and its underlying drivers.
  • Take full ownership of non-core trading (Non-BU) and lead on key financial deliverables such as Corporate Plan, Budget, and Latest View.
  • Simplify complex financial processes by understanding the interactions between our financial and management systems and challenging current practices.
  • Oversee a third-party relationship with our profit recovery auditors.
  • Ensure financial rigor is maintained, providing necessary challenges to uphold the integrity of financial figures while remaining compliant with relevant financial accounting standards.
  • Manage and mentor two Finance Analysts.
Candidate Profile
  • Qualified accountant - CIMA/ACCA/ACA.
  • Experience in large FMCG, Food, or Retail sectors.
  • Proficient in advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookups, and macros).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond accurately under pressure.
  • Demonstrated impact and influence capabilities.
  • Ability to convey financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong networking and partnership skills.
