Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Handler to join our team in Cardiff. As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing an allocation of motor claims from initial report to closure. This will involve assessing indemnity, liability, and quantum on motor insurance claims, identifying and referring fraud indicators, and negotiating settlement of claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Assessment: Assessing indemnity, liability, and quantum on motor insurance claims to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
  • Fraud Detection: Identifying and referring fraud indicators to prevent and detect fraudulent activities.
  • Case Load Management: Proactively managing a caseload of motor claims to ensure efficient and effective resolution.
  • Settlement Negotiation: Negotiating settlement of claims with customers and third parties to achieve fair and timely resolution.
  • Customer Service: Providing exceptional service to customers, responding to their queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements, including business compliance procedures and risks.
  • Process Improvement: Actively seeking and providing input to improve operational processes within the claims area.
  • Team Support: Supporting the Claims Team Leader with day-to-day departmental activity, ensuring quality, service standards, and productivity levels are maintained to a high standard.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience working in a motor insurance claims environment, preferably with a strong understanding of claims handling processes and procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with customers, third parties, and suppliers.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to interpret data to identify trends and inform action, ensuring accurate and timely resolution of claims.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated and able to work within a team framework, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
