Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paralegal to join our Disrepair Team at Notting Hill Genesis Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of your own disrepair caseload, from receipt of the initial letter of claim to legal settlement and completion of works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management: You will have your own caseload of disrepair and EPA cases, which you will drive to an effective, pre-litigation resolution that is both practically achievable and cost-effective to the organisation.
  • Legal Advice: You will apply your knowledge of the relevant laws, regulations, and processes to assess and advise on evidence, extent of liability, and quantum.
  • Case Concluding: You will conclude cases in a timely manner, while also ensuring that they are cost-effective and minimize risk to the organisation.
  • Document Preparation: You will process and draft legal documents, such as Part 36 offers, settlement agreements, and Tomlin/Consent orders.
  • Representation: You will represent NHG well in external settings, such as court, multi-agency meetings, local authority engagement meetings, mediation, and casework panels.
  • Documentation: You will prepare, draft, and respond to all necessary legal documentation and bundles, evidence, and witness statements as required.
Requirements
  • Education: A law degree, CILEX, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Experience working within a disrepair or asset management team within a legal department or practice, housing association, or similar organization.
  • Skills: Good spoken and written English, understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, particularly as it relates to litigation.
