Job Title: Housing Disrepair Paralegal

About the Role:

Expert Law Solicitors is seeking an experienced litigation and housing disrepair paralegal to join their thriving and growing team. As a key member of the housing disrepair team, you will be responsible for handling housing disrepair files from start to end, providing expert advice and guidance to clients, and working closely with fee earners to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Handle housing disrepair files from start to end, including drafting and issuing proceedings, and negotiating settlements.
  2. Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on housing disrepair matters, including the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Disrepair Cases and relevant legislation.
  3. Work closely with fee earners to achieve successful outcomes, including drafting cost schedules and advising on litigation and cost risk.
  4. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018, common law nuisance, and negligence.
  5. Provide excellent client care skills, including effective communication and negotiation.
  6. Contribute to the development of the housing disrepair team, including sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 3 years' experience in handling housing disrepair matters.
  2. Full understanding of the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Disrepair Cases and relevant legislation.
  3. Excellent client care skills, including effective communication and negotiation.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
