Currently, they are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to oversee a significant project within the Data Centre sector, taking full charge of the commercial responsibilities from inception to completion, including the development of a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

Role Purpose:

  • Oversee all financial and commercial management functions related to the project.
  • Uphold the organization's values and represent the company positively.
  • Collaborate with board members to ensure alignment with company goals and commitments.
  • Manage all financial aspects of the company's projects.
  • Provide commercial insights and reports to Senior Management and the Operations Team.
  • Establish systems to effectively monitor, assess, and control costs, risks, and commercial processes.
  • Supervise the subcontractor procurement strategy to ensure compliance with procedures and optimal commercial terms.
  • Ensure adherence to change control and variation process protocols.
  • Oversee risk management to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Manage procurement to guarantee that goods and services meet contract specifications at the best commercial rates.
  • Ensure effective management of insurance claims and adherence to the claims process.
  • Coordinate with legal, tax, insurance, and commercial teams within the organization.
  • Ensure compatibility of management systems across group companies.
  • Guarantee timely monthly invoicing to maintain a neutral cash flow.
  • Promote a commercial mindset within a construction and transport infrastructure context.
  • Conduct biannual contract audits.
  • Foster a culture of alliance and partnership.
  • Regularly review the commercial function to uphold best practices.
  • Ensure accurate financial recovery is achieved.
  • Supervise forecasting, budgeting, and cost reporting in collaboration with the finance department to maintain audit records and timely payment applications.
  • Work with Commercial Managers to identify and resolve issues requiring attention to establish a unified commercial policy.
  • Implement and review subcontract procurement strategies to ensure timely procurement of subcontractors.
  • Maintain oversight of subcontract accounts to ensure satisfactory progress and provide guidance in dispute resolution when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with change control and variation processes, including identification, pricing, and negotiation of changes.
  • Prepare all required reports and manage the reporting process within the commercial team.

Qualifications:

  • Disciplined and organized individual with strong leadership skills.
  • Minimum HNC/HND qualification in Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
  • Proven experience in commercial management within a construction setting.
  • Professional training or a graduate with evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Strong understanding of contract terms and conditions.
  • Familiarity with financial management and reporting procedures.
  • Ability to analyze business processes and recommend enhancements.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications.
