Position Overview

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in guiding and inspiring the clinical coding teams to ensure that coding processes are executed promptly, accurately, and in alignment with both national and local regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to monitor uncoded activities across various Health Groups on a daily basis, ensuring that all coding is completed within the designated timelines to support the Trust's operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication & Relationship Management
  • Foster effective collaborations with clinical and non-clinical services to provide guidance on coding methodologies.
  • Mentor junior coding personnel, enhancing their understanding of clinical coding and career progression within the department.
  • Assist junior staff in accessing training resources and understanding audit feedback, ensuring adherence to coding standards.
  • Clearly articulate complex coding regulations and standards to all staff levels, highlighting the implications of clinical or coding modifications on the Trust's data integrity and financial performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues, offering expert advice and support on clinical coding matters.
  • Engage with clinicians and senior management to identify and address issues within clinical coding, collaborating to enhance accuracy in designated areas.
  • Proactively identify challenges within clinical coding across specialties, discussing potential solutions with clinical teams and senior coding staff.
