About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pensions Actuarial Consultant to join our team at Lane Clark & Peacock. As a key member of our pensions actuarial department, you will be responsible for providing expert advice to clients on a range of pension scheme types and sizes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with a variety of clients, including trustee and corporate schemes, to provide technical advice and guidance on pension scheme funding and investment strategies.
  • Attend client meetings and present technical issues to clients, as required.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and advice on pension scheme matters.
  • Manage a small team of actuarial staff to produce client work on time and within budget.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to junior actuarial staff.
  • Lead the core work on actuarial valuations, solvency testing, and buy-in analysis for clients.
  • Draft and review pieces of advice, including trust deeds and rules, member booklets, and individual member calculations.
  • Estimate Pension Protection Fund levies and calculate Actuarial Certificates of Deficit Reduction Contributions.
  • Prepare cash flows for use in asset-liability models and monitor pension scheme funding levels on an ongoing basis.
  • Take a proactive role in keeping clients up-to-date on technical developments and anticipating their needs.
  • Liaise with other client advisers to ensure efficient provision of advice.
Requirements
  • Hold a professional actuarial qualification, such as FIA or FFA.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Be fully conversant with all technical aspects of UK pensions work.
  • Have supervisory experience of junior actuarial staff.
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work to clients.
