Your Responsibilities

  • Expanding your technical knowledge and expertise in pension administration
  • Grasping the procedures for intricate cases, including divorce settlements, members with substantial benefits, tax-related issues, and complex death cases, while ensuring compliance with established protocols
  • Executing complex calculations and verifying the accuracy of calculations performed by junior staff
  • Staying informed about legislative changes and identifying necessary adjustments for client communications, calculations, or practices
  • Recognizing special conditions applicable to specific clients and understanding scheme-specific requirements
  • Participating in initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency for clients, always seeking improvements in service delivery
  • Engaging in departmental projects that contribute to the overall benefit of the team
  • Drafting complex, non-standard correspondence as needed and reviewing drafts prepared by others
  • Providing mentorship and training to junior colleagues, among other duties

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in UK Defined Benefit pension administration
  • Educated to 'A' level, degree level, or equivalent qualifications
  • Progressing towards relevant training courses and exams to obtain the Award in Pensions Essentials (APE) and the Certificate in Pensions Calculations (CPC)
  • Understanding the roles of relevant external organizations, such as the PPF and tPR
  • Highly organized and meticulous, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing a fluctuating workload while demonstrating initiative
  • Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Flexibility in hours and responsibilities, along with a willingness to learn
