Pension Administration Expert

Lane Clark & Peacock is a distinguished consultancy specializing in actuarial services and analytics, offering guidance on pensions, investments, employee benefits, insurance, health, and energy.

We are currently seeking skilled pension administrators with experience in Defined Benefit schemes to enhance our team.

About the Pension Administration Team

You will join a dedicated group of professionals committed to delivering exceptional service to our clients. Managing a diverse portfolio of Defined Benefit clients will provide you with a wide range of responsibilities. As you progress, you will assume greater accountability for the clients you serve, fostering a strong sense of ownership and personal development as you deepen your understanding of pensions.

This position requires strong organizational skills, a proficiency in numerical tasks, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team. We offer a clear career progression pathway along with a comprehensive training program.

Your Responsibilities

  • Expanding your technical knowledge and expertise
  • Grasping the processes involved in complex scenarios such as divorce, members with substantial benefits, tax issues, and intricate death cases while ensuring compliance with established procedures
  • Performing complex calculations and verifying those completed by junior team members
  • Staying informed about legislative changes and identifying necessary adjustments for client communications, calculations, or practices
  • Recognizing special conditions for specific clients and understanding scheme-specific requirements
  • Participating in efficiency initiatives for clients, continuously seeking improvements and optimal service delivery
  • Engaging in departmental projects and initiatives that enhance the department's performance
  • Drafting complex, non-standard correspondence as needed and reviewing drafts from others
  • Providing mentorship and training to junior colleagues

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of three years of experience in UK Defined Benefit pension administration
  • Educated to 'A' level, degree level, or equivalent
  • Progressing towards relevant training courses and examinations to achieve the Award in Pensions Essentials (APE) and the Certificate in Pensions Calculations (CPC)
  • Understanding the roles of relevant external organizations, such as the PPF and tPR
  • Highly organized and meticulous, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, managing a fluctuating workload while demonstrating initiative
  • Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Flexibility in hours and duties, with a willingness to learn
