Scientific Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our team at Gray & Associates Recruitment Services. As a Research Associate, you will play a key role in supporting our scientific research activities, working closely with our team of experts to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities- Experiment Preparation and Implementation
Assist with the preparation and implementation of experiments with insects, including mosquitoes and other insects in the laboratory. This will involve exposure to insect bites.
Insectary WorkAssist with insectary work, including rearing mosquitoes and other insects as required.
Materials and Equipment SourcingSource materials and equipment for experiments.
General Laboratory DutiesPerform general laboratory duties, including preparation of chemicals.
Project Conduct and Quality AssuranceAssist with the safe and accurate conduct of projects according to quality standards.
Administrative and Research SupportAssist with other administrative and research activities as required.
Requirements- Technical Laboratory Skills
Good technical laboratory skills relevant to the role, including experience of working with insects.
Education and QualificationsBachelor's degree in a relevant field is essential; a Master's degree would be preferred.
Scientific ExperimentationAbility to carry out accurate scientific experiments.
Physical DemandsAbility to cope with the physical demands of the role, including moving equipment and supplies, manual handling tasks, and a flexible approach to working.
Experience and CompetenceExperience in laboratory technical support work in a Higher Education/Research setting; competence in laboratory safety, preferably within the Higher Education/Research sectors.
Collaboration and CommunicationAbility to work collaboratively as part of a team; good IT skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in ScienceDemonstrable interest in science.
