Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our team at Gray & Associates Recruitment Services. As a Research Associate, you will play a key role in supporting our scientific research activities, working closely with our team of experts to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Experiment Preparation and Implementation

Assist with the preparation and implementation of experiments with insects, including mosquitoes and other insects in the laboratory. This will involve exposure to insect bites.

Insectary Work

Assist with insectary work, including rearing mosquitoes and other insects as required.

Materials and Equipment Sourcing

Source materials and equipment for experiments.

General Laboratory Duties

Perform general laboratory duties, including preparation of chemicals.

Project Conduct and Quality Assurance

Assist with the safe and accurate conduct of projects according to quality standards.

Administrative and Research Support

Assist with other administrative and research activities as required.

Requirements
  • Technical Laboratory Skills

Good technical laboratory skills relevant to the role, including experience of working with insects.

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is essential; a Master's degree would be preferred.

Scientific Experimentation

Ability to carry out accurate scientific experiments.

Physical Demands

Ability to cope with the physical demands of the role, including moving equipment and supplies, manual handling tasks, and a flexible approach to working.

Experience and Competence

Experience in laboratory technical support work in a Higher Education/Research setting; competence in laboratory safety, preferably within the Higher Education/Research sectors.

Collaboration and Communication

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; good IT skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Interest in Science

Demonstrable interest in science.
