Position Overview

As a key player in our ENERGY division, you will take on the role of Lead Civil & Structural Engineer, providing technical oversight, enhancing client relations, and guiding junior engineers.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various disciplines within the Gas Team and engaging with clients such as gas network operators and construction firms. You will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in British Standards (Eurocodes) and UK Gas Industry Specifications, working towards or holding the title of Competent Design Authority (CDA) upon proving your expertise.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Engaging with clients to cultivate new business prospects.
  • Preparing comprehensive bid documentation to meet client expectations and deadlines.
  • Delivering high-quality site visits, project reports, and documentation.
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers, promoting high standards of work and technical expertise.
  • Understanding the GL5/G17/G35 Approval & Appraisal process, with a focus on detailed design experience using IGEM and Gas Network codes.
Expected Outcomes:
  • Consistent delivery of superior work, gathering client feedback to ensure high standards.
  • Sharing technical knowledge and abilities with the team through mentoring and educational initiatives.
  • Creating and reviewing annual activity plans for key clients.
  • Providing actionable recommendations for project management improvements and consultancy delivery.
  • Preparing presentations and reports as required.
Qualifications and Expertise:
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status or in the process of obtaining it.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role with direct involvement in design processes.
  • Familiarity with British and Highway Standards relevant to civil engineering and construction in the UK gas sector.
  • Knowledge of the UK Gas Industry Civil Engineering specifications is advantageous.
  • Experience with IGEM Technical Standards is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel as project demands require.
