Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Manager/Project Buyer to join our team at Burman Recruitment. As a key member of our Estates division, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies to support the University's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of procurement strategies to achieve optimal value for money and enhance procurement best practices.
  • Manage high-value procurement projects (over £10m) from initial sourcing to contract mobilization, ensuring compliance with public contracts legislation.
  • Oversee the drafting and management of tender documents and contractual agreements to ensure best value proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize service delivery and cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and public procurement legislation.
  • Lead procurement-led transformation programs and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on procurement practices to non-specialists within the University.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive procurement experience within a construction or facilities management environment.
  • Must have managed tier 1 contracts.
  • Familiarity with modern procurement techniques, value for money, and whole-life costing.
  • Experience managing procurement projects exceeding £10m.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using e-tendering systems.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), qualified to level 4 or above.
