Devon, United Kingdom Devon County Council Full time

Location: Exeter

We are looking for an enthusiastic Reception Class Educational Assistant to become a vital part of our Early Years team within our dynamic and technologically advanced reception classes. The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience in working with young children and a passion for fostering their educational development.

This role offers a range of benefits, including a comprehensive pension scheme, health benefits, a cycle-to-work initiative, and subsidized meals prepared by our skilled chefs in the staff café. Successful applicants will receive cutting-edge IT resources to aid in their responsibilities, along with opportunities for professional growth through training and a robust performance management system that rewards high achievers.

As part of a large Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team across our educational trust, you will be expected to deliver exceptional Early Years Provision. This includes assisting in the planning and resourcing of activities, as well as preparing the learning environment both indoors and outdoors. Our trust employs the ReadWrite Inc scheme for teaching Early Reading and Phonics, and we provide training for all Early Years staff to effectively implement this methodology.

In this role, you will oversee the progress of a designated group of children and may need to engage with parents regularly to discuss their child's development through both virtual and face-to-face meetings. Maintaining pupil records and performing various administrative tasks to support teaching staff will also be part of your responsibilities.

Applicants should have relevant experience and qualifications in working with children. A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with the latest EYFS curriculum advancements is essential.

This is a permanent, full-time position, operating from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The starting salary for this role is approximately £22,100 pro rata, depending on age and experience, with the actual salary reflecting the hours and weeks worked.

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this position.
