About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registration Manager to lead our Registration Service team in South Gloucestershire. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the registration process, ensuring high standards of customer service, and developing a positive culture within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the registration process, including managing the marriage ceremony rota and allocating interviews to members of the public.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including checking quarterly copies of births and deaths, certifying them on the registration system, and sending them to the General Register Office.
  • Prepare the annual report for the General Register Office and be responsible for the safe keeping of deposited registers.
  • Represent the Registration Service at meetings with the Medical Examiner, Registration staff from other areas, and the Coroner.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a capable, skilled, and knowledgeable Registration Service team, ensuring high standards of customer service are delivered.
  • Implement new ways of working, develop the customer journey, and ensure compliance with legislation and service change requirements.

Requirements

  • Education to degree level or equivalent qualification, or substantial relevant experience within the Registration Service.
  • Professional experience of working as a Deputy Superintendent Registrar or Superintendent Registrar, including budget management responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Full understanding of the interlinking roles of the General Register Office, the local Authority, and the Registration Service.
  • Good working knowledge of the wider statutory requirements.
  • Experience of managing a team, promoting excellent customer service, and a positive culture, and working with and influencing partners outside the Local Authority.
  • Experience of IT and using standard MS Office programmes, specifically knowledge of the Registration Service software RON.
