About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. As an Advanced Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in supporting and enabling disabled children and young people to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people with severe and complex disabilities to determine their needs and develop personalized support plans.
  • Work closely with families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure that the needs of service users are met and that they receive the necessary support and equipment to live independently.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments, handling assessments, and handling plans to ensure the safety and well-being of service users.
  • Manage a busy caseload of complex cases, prioritizing tasks and ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with architects and other professionals to design and implement adaptations to homes and other environments to meet the needs of service users.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy, including registration with the Health Care Profession Council (HCPC).
  • At least 2 years post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist in a social care setting, or significant experience working with children with disabilities.
  • Sound knowledge and skills as an Occupational Therapist, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients and families.
  • Ability to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, with a full valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
