Lead Addiction Liaison Nurse

Greenock, Inverclyde, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. Our commitment is to deliver comprehensive acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care services to a population exceeding 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when considering our regional and national services.

In alignment with NHS Scotland's initiative, the full-time working week will transition from 37.5 to 37 hours per week, effective from April 2024, without a corresponding change in salary. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. Consequently, this job listing and any ensuing employment contract will reflect the new working hours. However, it is important to note that not all service areas may immediately implement the 37-hour workweek from April 2024. Therefore, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week temporarily, for which you will be compensated until your service area adjusts its rosters or working patterns.

This is a fixed-term role.

The specific shift pattern for this position is yet to be determined.

An exciting opportunity has emerged to join the Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team.

Before considering this position as a secondment, please consult with your current line manager.

The primary function of this team is to assist individuals facing complex alcohol and drug issues and associated risks, who typically require comprehensive assessments, specialized care, and treatment. The team focuses on assertive outreach, harm reduction strategies, and support to encourage engagement in treatment. This includes assistance for individuals recently released from incarceration, discharged from medical facilities, or in high-risk crisis situations.

As a vital member of this nurse-led team, the successful candidate will collaborate effectively, demonstrating compassionate care to fulfill the essential responsibilities of the Addiction Liaison Nurse role.

The post-holder will serve as a crucial link between Acute Hospitals, Liaison Psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services (ADRS), and various care providers, including Primary Care, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, Homeless Services, and other local health and social care partnerships.

Applicants should possess a valid nursing registration with level 1 NMC registration. A minimum of two years of experience in addiction or community nursing at band 5 is required, along with a degree-level education or equivalent.

For further information on the recruitment process, please refer to the Candidate Information Packs.
