Greenock, Inverclyde, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. Our organization delivers comprehensive healthcare services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community services, and mental health support to a population exceeding 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when considering our regional and national services.

In alignment with NHS Scotland's initiative, the full-time working week will transition from 37.5 hours to 37 hours per week starting April 2024, with no alteration in remuneration. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. It is important to note that while this change is forthcoming, certain service areas may not implement the reduced hours immediately, and temporary adjustments may be required.

This position is a fixed-term role, contributing to the Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team.

The team is dedicated to assisting individuals facing complex challenges related to alcohol and drug use, often requiring extensive assessment, tailored care, and specialized engagement to manage elevated risk levels. Our services include assertive outreach, harm reduction strategies, and support aimed at fostering treatment engagement, particularly for those recently released from incarceration, discharged from medical facilities, or experiencing high-risk crises.

As a vital member of this nurse-led team, the successful candidate will embody compassionate care, fulfilling the essential responsibilities of the Addiction Liaison Nurse role.

The post-holder will serve as a crucial connection among Acute Hospitals, Liaison Psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services (ADRS), and various care providers, including Primary Care, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, and local health and social care partnerships.

Qualified applicants should possess a Level 1 NMC registration as a registered nurse, along with a minimum of two years of experience in addiction or community settings at Band 5, and should hold at least a degree-level education or equivalent.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is committed to fostering a diverse workforce and encourages applications from all community sectors. We take pride in our inclusive culture.

By endorsing the Armed Forces Covenant, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde demonstrates its dedication to being a Forces Friendly Employer, valuing military skills and experiences throughout the recruitment process.
