Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Dispensary Assistant to join our team at Staunton and Corse Surgery. As a Dispensary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our dispensary, ensuring that patients receive excellent customer care and that our team is able to provide high-quality healthcare services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Serve patients and process prescription fees, ensuring completion of exemption declarations.
  • Handle telephone calls from patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Order medications as required and unpack and check off orders from medical suppliers.
  • Carry out duties competently and within the standards expected by the DSQS and Staunton & Corse Surgery.
  • Work safely in accordance with legislative requirements and Practice Policy & Procedures.
  • Provide cover for Annual Leave and Sickness.

Person Specification

  • Full training will be provided. Good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Clear, polite telephone manner.
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving & analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow policy and procedure.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Interest in Primary Health Care.
  • SystmOne user skills.
