Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Dispensary Assistant to join our team at Staunton and Corse Surgery. As a Dispensary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our dispensary, ensuring that patients receive excellent customer care and that our team is able to provide high-quality services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Serve patients and process prescription fees, ensuring completion of exemption declarations.
  • Handle telephone calls from patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Order medications as required, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
  • Unpack and check off orders from medical suppliers, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Carry out duties competently and within the standards expected by the DSQS and Staunton & Corse Surgery.
  • Work safely, adhering to legislative requirements and Practice Policy & Procedures.
  • Provide cover for Annual Leave and Sickness, ensuring continuity of service.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Full training will be provided.
    • Good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
    • Strong IT skills.
    • Clear, polite telephone manner.
    • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook.
    • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Problem solving & analytical skills.
    • Ability to follow policy and procedure.
  • Desirable:
    • The successful applicant should have an interest in Primary Health Care.
