The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth is in search of a skilled and motivated Upper Limb Rehabilitation Expert to become a vital part of our committed Hand Therapy team. We have several openings available and are looking for professionals at both band 6 and 7 levels.

About Our Institution

  • Employ advanced communication and behavioral modification techniques to support a long-term self-management strategy for patients dealing with acute or chronic musculoskeletal conditions and pain.
  • Continuously assess, evaluate, and adjust treatment goals, objectives, and expected outcomes in partnership with the patient, their caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team.

Job Duties

  • Maintain professional and legal accountability for all aspects of your professional practice in accordance with the standards set by the Hospital, department, and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Assume overall responsibility for the planning and management of your complex and specialized patient caseload, organizing it effectively and efficiently in relation to clinical priorities and time management.
  • Demonstrate high competency in evaluating a diverse range of orthopedic hand and plastic surgery conditions, utilizing advanced theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology, particularly in scenarios with conflicting evidence.
  • Apply advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based knowledge to assess and diagnose patients, implementing suitable management plans as an independent practitioner.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
  • Proven record of acquiring additional specialist knowledge through relevant postgraduate training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managing complex cases related to plastic and orthopedic hand surgery.
  • Proficient in hand therapy splinting and postoperative wound management.
  • Familiarity with a variety of approaches for the treatment of complex patients.
