The Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth is on the lookout for a skilled and motivated Hand Rehabilitation Expert to join our committed team, focusing on hand rehabilitation services. We have several positions available and are interested in candidates at both band 6 and 7 levels.

Are You the Ideal Candidate for This Hand Rehabilitation Position?

  • A BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy, or an equivalent qualification
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
  • Proven additional expertise gained through relevant postgraduate training.
  • Experience in managing complex cases related to plastic and orthopaedic hand surgery.
  • Proficient in hand rehabilitation splinting and post-operative care.
  • Familiarity with a diverse range of strategies for managing complex patient needs.

What Responsibilities Will You Have in This Hand Rehabilitation Role?

  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your professional activities in accordance with the standards of the Hospital, department, and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • To take overall responsibility for the planning and management of your complex and specialized patient caseload, organizing it effectively and efficiently with respect to clinical priorities and time management.
  • To demonstrate high competency in assessing a variety of orthopaedic hand and plastic surgery conditions, utilizing advanced theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology, often in scenarios with conflicting evidence.
  • To apply advanced clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based knowledge to assess and diagnose patients, implementing suitable management plans as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To exhibit highly developed dexterity, coordination, and palpation skills for the assessment and treatment of patients.
  • To employ advanced communication and behavior change techniques to support a long-term self-management approach for patients dealing with acute or chronic musculoskeletal conditions and pain.
  • To continuously evaluate and adjust treatment goals, objectives, and desired outcomes in collaboration with the patient, their caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team.
