Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Consultant Speech and Language Therapist to lead our Upper Airway Service at the Royal Brompton Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical assessment and treatment to patients with breathing, voice, and throat difficulties arising from the larynx.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based assessment and treatment to patients with upper airway disorders, including voice, ENT, and respiratory medicine.
  • Lead the Upper Airway Service, overseeing service delivery and ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Manage a team of Speech and Language Therapists, providing supervision, appraisal, and line management.
  • Develop and deliver local, regional, and national teaching programs to promote best practice in upper airway disorders.
  • Engage in research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of upper airway disorders.
Requirements
  • Recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree (MSc or equivalent) and post-graduate training in assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment of complex voice, larynx, and breathing disorders.
  • Advanced clinical experience and autonomy in assessment, differential diagnosis, and management of upper airway presentations.
  • Leadership and management experience, including supervision, appraisal, and line management of therapy teams.
  • Teaching experience and ability to develop and deliver local, regional, and national teaching programs.
  • Membership of national and international organizations within the field of respiratory medicine, SLT, and ENT.

You will be expected to contribute to the development of our Upper Airway Service and promote best practice in the field.
