Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Clinical Specialist to become a vital member of our Radiophysics team. This role involves providing essential support to radiophysics services across various medical departments, including oncology, nuclear medicine, and advanced imaging techniques.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a registered Clinical Specialist or in the process of obtaining registration. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering clinical, scientific, and technical assistance to the aforementioned medical services.
  • Ensuring the optimal functioning of diverse nuclear medicine imaging and calibration equipment.
  • Executing complex procedures, introducing innovative techniques, and optimizing clinical protocols.
  • Participating in dosimetry and radiation safety services, as well as quality improvement and applied research initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • A strong academic background with a good (1st or 2nd class) Honours degree in a relevant field.
  • A relevant Master’s degree or higher qualification.
  • Completion of IPEM Diploma or Certificate in Medical Physics.
  • Registered Clinical Specialist status.
  • Corporate membership of a pertinent professional organization.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Comprehensive understanding of radiation principles and familiarity with various procedures within Radiophysics.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A minimum of three years of training/experience in Medical Physics, including at least one year in Radiophysics, with skills in evaluating nuclear medicine equipment and resolving patient-related equipment issues.
  • Awareness of patient and staff safety concerns associated with ionizing radiation from radioisotopes.
  • Experience in developing and delivering clinical technical radioisotope services, including equipment assessment, patient dosimetry, quality assurance, and radiation risk evaluations.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, and professional guidelines.

Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Proficiency in using software tools such as Excel, Word, and Access for documentation and data management.
  • Ability to adapt software solutions to meet the specific needs of the radiophysics service.
  • Capability to work autonomously and manage personal technical responsibilities effectively.
  • Competence in presenting scientific findings at both national and international forums.
  • Experience in training and mentoring other professional staff.
  • Ability to deliver educational sessions on complex Imaging Physics topics.
