Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated individual to become a vital member of our dynamic healthcare team at Donnington Medical Partnership as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, particularly focusing on respiratory conditions such as asthma. This role is structured for 32 hours per week across 4 days, with flexibility available for the ideal candidate.

The successful candidate will collaborate with our existing nursing staff, who work cohesively to provide exceptional care to our patient population. Our practice caters to approximately 13,300 patients, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment.

Our GP partners are deeply involved in medical education, as we are a training facility for GP Trainees and host placements for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. We prioritize personal and professional growth for all team members.

Patient Care Duties

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will undertake tasks assigned and delegated by the GP Partners, working independently under established protocols and within defined competencies. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting health assessments for new patients
  • Performing venepuncture and urine analysis
  • Monitoring blood pressure and conducting ECGs
  • Managing wound care and dressings
  • Providing immunizations and travel health advice
  • Supporting chronic disease management, including asthma and COPD
  • Offering lifestyle advice and referrals for both men’s and women’s health

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will refer to a supervising clinician if any deviation from established protocols is necessary or if clinical judgment is required.

Collaboration and Communication

Key relationships include:

  • Lead Practice Nurse
  • Practice Nursing Team and Healthcare Assistants
  • General Practitioners
  • Practice Manager
  • Administrative and Secretarial Teams

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will maintain accurate and timely records of all patient interactions in accordance with practice protocols.

Quality Assurance

Professional Development

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will:
