Service Desk Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Service Desk Engineer to join our UK Technical Services Team. As a Service Desk Engineer, you will be responsible for responding to a variety of incidents and service requests across Storage, Network, Virtualisation, Backup, DR, and Microsoft technologies.

This is a 2nd line technical support role, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. You will work closely with our clients to identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to their business operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and categorize incoming tickets, prioritizing tasks to ensure timely resolution
  • Manage daily schedules using service dashboards and prioritize tickets accordingly
  • Perform initial triage on Network, Compute, Storage, VMware, Backup, and DR infrastructure
  • Communicate effectively with customers, keeping them informed of progress and resolution
  • Identify trends and patterns to initiate Problem Management
  • Support internal IT onboarding
Requirements:
  • MSP experience in a technical support or similar role
  • Good knowledge of VMware/Horizon/VDI or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies, including Desktop OS, Server OS, Hyper-V, Active Directory, and Exchange
  • Background in Cloud technologies, such as Azure, Microsoft 365, and AWS
  • Experience working within a Managed Services environment or a similarly structured (ITIL) based organization
  • One of CCNA, VCP, or NCDA is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to collaborate; team player mindset
