Role Summary

The Manager of Corporate Strategy for Europe is an integral member of Visa's European Corporate Strategy team, tasked with guiding Visa's strategic direction across the continent. This role involves leading workstreams for significant strategic initiatives, corporate planning, and gathering strategic intelligence. The projects undertaken will support vital business areas, whether by function or geography, to achieve objectives such as revenue growth, the development of new market strategies, or responses to regulatory and competitive changes. The individual in this role is expected to operate independently within a small team, depending on project complexity.

Corporate Strategy at Visa

The Corporate Strategy team is responsible for advising Visa's leadership in Europe on critical strategic questions across the 30+ countries in which we operate. This includes collaboration with various functions such as Product, Sales, Merchants and Acquiring, and Technology. Typical projects might involve developing a growth strategy for a specific country, entering new markets with products or services, multi-year strategic planning, and responding to regulatory changes. The team enjoys a comprehensive view of the company's priorities at the highest level.

As a small team, we value a hands-on approach where every member is expected to contribute actively. We pride ourselves on our non-hierarchical structure, working collaboratively in flexible combinations within our team and across the organization.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in workstreams focused on Visa's overarching strategy in Europe and its sub-regions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and regional management teams on strategic projects, structuring and resolving business challenges to formulate recommendations.
  • Conduct thorough, data-driven analyses to support strategic recommendations, ensuring alignment with financial and strategic objectives.
  • Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear and impactful manner.
  • Exhibit self-starter qualities, teamwork, and collaboration, participating in complex projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and support the Strategy Team's management practices, including data sourcing and planning team events.

Key Competencies

  • Employ problem-solving methodologies with minimal supervision.
  • Independently create compelling presentations and documents, effectively communicating complex data.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions, fostering consensus among cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, particularly in Excel, to perform complex analyses and validate findings.
  • Contribute to project structure and proactively address challenges while supporting cross-functional coordination.
  • Mentor junior team members through informal coaching and collaborative project work.

This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing employees to alternate between remote and office work. Hybrid employees are expected to be in the office 2-3 days a week, based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires 2-4 years of experience, including roles in strategy consulting or corporate strategy.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Experience in the payments industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in a major European language is a plus.
