About This Role
The Behavioral Science division comprises a compact yet diverse team integrated within the bank's Data Science department. Our focus is on understanding decision-making processes and behaviors, leveraging cutting-edge behavioral insights alongside rigorous quantitative research methodologies to enhance customer value and address business challenges.

We are developing extensive data repositories to analyze customer behavior and preferences, establishing frameworks for refining our solutions through live experimentation. This initiative enables us to cater to the personalized banking requirements of a progressively digital society. We have assembled a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of Behavioral Scientists that merges behavioral insights with data to create novel opportunities for our customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

While you will have the flexibility to shape the role based on your core competencies, strengths, and interests, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing thought leadership and advocating for behavioral insights to assist various business sectors in enhancing their comprehension of customer activities and decision-making, particularly in relation to new digital and offline customer experiences.
  • Collaborating across diverse products and services to design and evaluate behaviorally-informed solutions addressing significant challenges faced by the bank, aiming to transform experiences and deliver measurable benefits to our customers and colleagues.
  • Contributing to the development of reusable knowledge, processes, and methodologies within the Behavioral Science team to enhance the team's efficiency, scope, and growth.
  • Acting as an advisor to a broad range of colleagues, leading the presentation of a diverse array of behavioral research and findings to support key business decision-makers.
  • Partnering with academic collaborators from leading global institutions to elevate the team's profile and demonstrate the impact of our Behavioral Science initiatives within and beyond the bank.
  • Working as part of a diverse team, engaging with colleagues from various backgrounds and areas of expertise, and appreciating different perspectives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should possess practical experience in applying Behavioral Science methodologies within a commercial or governmental organization or hold a PhD in a relevant research discipline with an interest in applying their expertise in a commercial context.

Additionally, we expect you to bring:

  • A creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • A solid understanding of behavioral science literature through professional exposure or academic study, such as psychology, behavioral economics, judgment and decision-making, or consumer behavior.
  • Proven experience in applying behavioral insights and testing solutions to address real-world challenges in business, public sector, or academia.
  • The ability to articulate behavioral science concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistical techniques as utilized in the social sciences.
  • An understanding of ethical and regulatory expectations in financial markets, along with awareness of historical instances where these expectations have not been met.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Experience in retail financial services or another market with a significant emphasis on retail customer behaviors.
  • Practical experience in conducting large-scale quantitative experiments, including digital A/B testing, personalization, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience in driving organizational change based on new findings, ideas, or initiatives, fostering customer support, and raising awareness among colleagues.
  • Personal resilience, problem-solving, and business development skills in a large, matrixed commercial environment.
  • Strong presentation skills.
