About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our Dementia Wellbeing Team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality speech and language therapy services to individuals living with dementia and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized speech and language therapy plans for people living with dementia, under the supervision of the Lead SLT for dementia.
  • Collaborate with the Dementia Wellbeing Team to provide comprehensive support to individuals and their families, addressing communication and eating and drinking needs.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the wider SLT team on speech and language therapy for people living with dementia.
  • Contribute to the development of the service, its resources, and training, working closely with the Lead SLT for dementia.
  • Manage a defined caseload independently, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration and RCSLT membership.
  • Postgraduate diploma level completion of specialist short courses relevant to the area of clinical expertise.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of specialist assessment tools and procedures to evaluate communication and/or eating and drinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable.
